November 2008 – New Leixlip Garda Station to be Headquarters and 24 hour says Brady

Deputy Aine Brady has been informed by An Garda Siochana that the new Leixlip Garda Station will be the headquarters for new Leixlip Policing District and will also continue to be a 24 hour station.

'Given the population increase in Kildare by over 40% since 1996 and almost 14% between 2002 and 2007, it was important that the whole area of policing was reassessed. The new divisional boundary changes, which were announced recently, established a new Leixlip District Division which will take in the sub-districts of Celbridge, Maynooth, Kilcock and Carbury. Leixlip will be now be the Headquarters for this new division and will continue to be a 24 hour station.' stated Deputy Brady.

'The newly opened station is a welcome resource for the area and I will continue to highlight the requirement for increased Garda numbers for the Leixlip District.' concluded Deputy Brady.
