October 2008 – €250k for Kildare Co Co for Housing Adaption Grant

Deputy Aine Brady has been informed by the Minister for Housing, Michael Finneran TD, that Kildare Co Co will receive a supplementary allocation of €250k towards the cost of the Housing Adaptation Grant scheme for Older people and people with disabilities, which are administered by the Council.

‘I welcome the announcement by the Minister as this is a very valuable scheme for our older people and people with disabilities. Many in Kildare have benefited from the scheme in recent years.' stated Deputy Brady.

‘I made representations to the Minister to provide supplementary funding for the schemes. An initial allocation of €1.6m was notified to Kildare Co Co earlier this year. The funding of €250k will go some way in assisting Kildare Co Co cope with the significant demand experienced for the schemes.' concluded Deputy Brady
