Deputy Aine Brady,
Convenor of the Joint Oireachtas Committee, has stated that continued Investment
in our Rail Infrastructure is critical to secure continued investment in Kildare
and also to ease the burden for our commuters.
'We are entering more challenging times from an economic
perspective and there will not be the resources in the short term for all our
demands. However, Investment in Rail will bring economic benefits to the
area.'
'The Chief Executive of
Iarnrod Eireann has confirmed to me that the Electrification of the Maynooth
Line is a central core element to Transport 21 Capital Investment programme
upto 2015. When complete the Maynooth Line will operate as part of the DART
network. and will increase both the capacity and frequency of the service on the
Line.'
'I have been assured that the
Service for Kilcock Commuters will improve in 2009. In addition, an additional
250 car places will be provided and I have made representations to Kildare Co Co
to have the planning issue resolved as soon as possible so that the works can
start as soon as possible.' concluded Deputy Brady.
