Deputy Aine Brady has pressed Dublin Bus to apply for
a licence to replace the services, which were previously provided by Circleline,
and expand their services to Celbridge.
'Residents living adjacent
to Wolstan Haven road currently have no Dublin Bus service, following
circleline's decision to cease the service. All current Dublin Bus services run
through the main street of Celbridge. ' stated Deputy Brady.
'Bus
Commuters ultimately require a regular and frequent service within walking
distance from their homes or park and ride facilities. Many Celbridge residents
have contacted me requesting an increased service to Celbridge and I have
strongly impressed upon Dublin Bus at my meeting with them last Monday to
provide such services.'
'Commuters have complained about
Buses been at maximum capacity during peak time departures, even though we are
in Holiday times. Once the schools are back and the holiday period is at an end,
extra people will use the Buses and we must be prepared for further increased
numbers requiring a Bus Service.'
'At a time when the Oireachtas
Transport Committee recently launched its report on developing an efficient Bus
Network, which highlighted the importance of 'Marketing' the Bus as an efficient
mode of Transport, it is important that Dublin Bus responds to the challenge of
providing the required services, given the demand that is now there for the Bus
in Celbridge.' concluded Deputy Brady.
