August 2008 – Brady keeps pressure on Department in connection with the Kill School

Deputy Aine Brady has contacted Batt O'Keeffe TD, Minister for Education, and again pressed on his Department the importance of providing the new school at Kill as soon as possible. Kildare Co Co granted planning permission to the Department of Education to build a new school at Kill this morning.

'The decision to grant planning permission is a welcome development and we must now focus on getting to the construction stage as soon as possible.'

'The Kill and Johnstown Community have an acute requirement for a new school. In recent years, the school has just managed to cater for significant influx of pupils. Kill and Johnstown have grown significantly in recent years and the current school no longer has capacity to deal with growing numbers.'

'The Community of Kill and Johnstown have shown great patience in recent years and I will keep the pressure on the Department to ensure that we get to construction as soon as possible.'

'New laws will help enure that new housing developments in the future will have to include provision of school in their plans. While this is of little comfort to Kill, it is an issue that I campaigned to have implemented and it should ensure that the problems which occured in Kill will not re-occur.'
