July 2008 – Kildare Co Co received approval for two new Fire Appliances

Deputy Aine Brady has been informed by the Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government, Michael Kitt TD, that he has approved the purchase of two new fire appliances for Kildare.

'I welcome this announcement as it is important that we continue to invest in the fire services in Kildare. We are all well aware of the important work that our Fire Services provide and modern equipment is a key enabler for them to carry out their work in an efficient and safe manner.'

'I have no doubt that this investment will strengthen the capacity of the fire service in County Kildare and enhance the service provided by the retained crew of the six stations operating here.' stated Deputy Brady.

'The Department will be providing a grant of almost €600,000 to the fire authority in due course to meet the full cost of these vehicles.' concluded Deputy Brady.
