January 0 – Solution nearer for Johnstown Estate says Brady

Deputy Aine Brady has been informed by the Minister of State at the Department of Finance, with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Mr. Noel Ahern TD that Kildare Co Co is now commencing the process of engaging a consultant engineer to examine the flooding problem in detail and propose potential solutions.

'I welcome this movement by Kildare Co Co. Recently, following representations to the Minsiter, the OPW met with Kildare Co Co to discuss the flooding problem at Johnstown. The OPW advised Kildare Co Co that it is willing to provide the council with funds to relieve the problem.'

'The is a welcome step and I hope that a solution that is acceptable to all sides will be presented by the consulting engineer that it to be appointed.' concluded Deputy Brady.
