Deputy Aine Brady has been informed by the Minister for Housing, Michael Finneran TD, that a capital allocation of €1.64m has been allocated to Kildare County Council for the payment of Housing Adaptation Grants for Private Dwellings.
‘The allocation to Kildare Co Co is for the payment of Disabled, Essential Repair and Housing Adaptation Grants for Older people and People with Disability, for private Dwellings.' stated Deputy Brady.
‘The announcement is part of a national €71.4m allocation for 2008. Since 1997, €514m has been allocated to this scheme assisting almost 74,000 older people or people with disability.
‘This scheme was revised last year, with a revised framework to target the available resources to those most in need. The revised scheme also provides a more seamless set of responses to the needs of the applicants.' concluded Deputy Brady, who welcomed the commitment from the Minister to the scheme.
