July 2008 – Community Groups receive funding for Older People

Deputy Aine Brady has been informed by John Curran, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, that two North Kildare groups, one in the Naas area and the other in Donadea,  are to received funding under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People (CSOP).

The Naas Community Group will receive €13,500 and the Donadea Community Group will receive €550 under the scheme.'

'The purpose of this Scheme is to encourage and assist the community's support for older people through the community based provision of socially monitored alarm systems, and security equipment such as sensor lighting, window locks, door locks, door chains or smoke alarms.' stated Deputy Brady.

'The Voluntary Groups deserve great credit for their work in bringing the benefits of this Scheme to their communities."
