July 2008 – Bus Corridors move a step closer for Naas

Deputy Aine Brady has been informed that the preliminary design is underway for a Quality Bus Corridor on the Limerick Road / Newbridge Road in Naas and that a design for a Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) from the N7 to the Town centre is expected to proceed early next year.

'Following discussions between Kildare Co Co, Bus Eireann and the Quality Bus Network Office, the Limerick Road/Newbridge Road from the Inner relief Road to New Row was identified as a priority from a Bus Corridor perspective.'

'The preliminary design is now underway and the public consultation process is expected to take place in October of this year. Works are expected to start in early 2009, subject to approval from the public consultation process and funding from the Dublin Transportation Office.' stated Deputy.

'In order to have an efficient Bus service, we have to provide adequate Bus Lanes so that Buses can be both regular and reliable. The installation of Bus Lanes is a key enabler to improve the Bus Service.' concluded Deputy Brady who met with the Quality Bus Network office last year to press for better Bus Infrastructure.
