Deputy Aine Brady has been informed by Mr. John Gormley, TD, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local
Government, that a special allocation of over €3m from his Department will be allocated to Kildare Co Co to help with running costs of recently provided water and sewerage treatment plants.
'Given the investment in our water and waste water treatment plants, it is important that we also provide for the operation and maintenance of these plants.'
'I welcome the announcement and I will continue to press for further investment to upgrade our existing facilities.'
'Recently, following my representations, we succeeded in getting approval for the Lower Liffey Valley Scheme and the Derrinturn Scheme to proceed to construction under the old tendering process. This will considerable lead to a reduction in the timescale for the project.' concluded Deputy Brady who had tabled a motion on the issue at a recent Fianna Fail Parliamentary Party meeting.
