Deputy Aine Brady has welcomed the announcement by NUI Maynooth that it has reached an agreement with Global Computer Company, Intel, to provide an innovative ME degree programme (Master of Engineering) for Intel Staff.
‘The National University of Ireland, Maynooth announced that it has reached agreement with locally based global computer company Intel to deliver an innovative ME degree programme (Master of Engineering) for Intel Engineers.' stated Deputy Brady who recently organised a visit to the college by Minister for Innovation, Michael Ahern TD.
‘Ensuring that we build relationships between Knowledge providers and Industry is going to be key to maintaining and building our current employment levels. NUI Maynooth have launched a number of new course recently and also now have a Commercialisation of research Department.' Stated Deputy Brady.
‘Education, Taxation Policy and Social Partnership have been the key to our economic success. Now, we have to focus on investing in our Human Capital and this initiative will allow Intel Engineers up-skill and add value to both Intel and NUI Maynooth.' Stated Deputy Brady.
‘Strong links between universities and industry are key to sustaining our employment locally. This partnership, which will see Intel Engineers commence their Masters programme in September of this year, will strengthen Intel and NUI Maynooth.'
‘This announcement comes on the back of a funding boost of €4.9 million by the Government to improve facilities at the college and funding of €320,000 under the Department of Education's Strategic Innovation Fund - both recently announced.' Stated Deputy Brady.
‘This is a very significant development at NUI Maynooth, and as stated by Minister John McGuinness TD at the Clane Chamber of Commerce AGM last week, it is important that the SME sector also continue to develop links with the University to build their businesses.' Concluded Deputy Brady who has highlighted in the past the value of NUI Maynooth to our locally based industries.
