January 2800 – Progress on the provision of Wheelchair Access at Sallins Rail Station says Brady.


Deputy Aine Brady, Convenor of the Oireachtas Transport Committee, has been informed by the Chief Executive of Iarnrod Eireann, Richard Fern, that a funding application for a new footbridge to facilitate wheelchair access will be submitted shortly to the Department of Transport.

'In January, I met with the Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey TD, and raised this issue with him, following a number of queries from public representatives and commuters.'

'Iarnrod Eireann has now informed me that, as part of their general programme of access improvements, a new footbridge, with lifts to facilitate wheelchair access to both platforms will be provided at the Sallins Station.' stated Deputy Brady.

'A funding application to the Department of Transport will be submitted shortly and the lifts and footbridge will be installed in the next 12 to 18 months.'  concluded Deputy Brady who had also raised the issue at recent meeting with Iarnrod Eireann.
